The purpose of this blog is document the next year in my classroom. The class is a 4-K 5-K class of 26 students who typically stay with me for two years. Approximately half of the students are 4-K and half 5-K.
I have already begun planning. One of the things that bothered me last year was that the class was so loud. I have already re-arranged the 2 connected rooms. One of the rooms is full of quiet activities (library, math center, sensorial, practical life, etc.) The other room has all of the loud/messy activities. I hope this will allow us all a quiet place to go.
Now the fun part begins. Reading and thinking about what we will do next year. I am reading several books. The one that really intrigues me is called Black Ants and Buddhists by Mary Cowhey. It has made me think about more ways to foster the children's thinking about the community and about diversity.
